Halloween started with a trip to the ER with Winston who needed to be rehydrated and medicaded for the flu (not swine as far as we know). But his fever was down and he wanted to go trick or treating, which just goes to show you can't keep the boy down when candy is at stake! So we did one trip around the loop, in the car since it was raining. And they were in be by 8. Here are some pics, you can tell he isn't feeling the greatest....

Did I really let all of October pass without so much as a post? Shame on me! Well here are some pictures of our pumpkin carving adventure. Fall came fast here in east Tennessee. I know it wasn't this cold this early last year! So here ya go, some pumpkin pics, my birthday cake, and whatever else I can find on my computer from Oct. How cute are my kids?? Yesterday Winston brought my wedding pictures out and asked me to tell the the story of when I was a princess!! Then when I picked Bristol up from school he told me "I missed you all day long".. ahhhhh. This morning I was reading "Puff the Magic Dragon" to Winston and when I read...."and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called".....he would say "Honalee!"

I know it's been a while since I posted, but I have a good excuse. My hard drive crashed again! I had it replaced under warenty thank goodness, and the keyboard relplaced again thanks to Winston!! Little stinker! We haven't been up to too much, Bristol loves school. Winston misses him. But we have crazy eva to keep him company. I promise I'll get some pics up soon. I forgot to take first day of school pics!! I know I can't believe it either! I did get a little video but don't look for me to put it up since that is way beyond my technical abilities! Oh I guess I do have some pictues of David cutting down the dead tree in the front yard, looks like we will servive the winter after all with our new stack of firewood! Well the pictues were suppose to be under the text but I can never figure it out you are lucky I can get them on here at all!

Here are some pics of the house. We have redone about everyroom except the bathrooms, but the main one did get a coat of blue paint. I don't know why some of these came out fuzzy, but now that the family is home from Indiana it doesn't look this clean anymore :( so it could be a while before I have more pics to post.

Well we used the homemade laundry detergent all week and I can't tell any difference between it and the tide, so I would say it was a success. As far as the vinegar, we could still smell it, but I did put it in a little late so maybe it didn't get rinsed out as well as it should.

So I found this recipe for homemade laundry soap, it is suppose to work as well as Tide or better and way cheaper, someone said for a family of four with this recipe they spend about $2.00 a MONTH! I will let you know how it works. Also I read that you can use white distilled vinegar for fabric softener, just fill up your fabric softener dispenser on the washer with it. When the clothes are dry they are super soft and don't smell like vinegar, it also doesn't leave a wax on your clothes like store bought fabric softener.

Playroom

I am working on the playroom, and since it took me 7 hours to get this far, I decided to go ahead and post a picture, because who knows how long it will take me to finish. The backdoor I have painted a black chalkboard on, we are going to put a small trim around it hopefully tonight. The reason it is taking so long is because the walls are a really rough wood and the grooves are deep so it is a lot of painting with a brush. So you will have to stay tuned to see how it comes out. I really am happy with the color though, it really brightens the room up.

I Pee in the Grass, I Pee in the Grass.....

This is what Winston yelled all through Kroger's the other day. We are potty training and it seems he prefers the great outdoors to the potty. This could be due to the fact he fell face first into the potty when his step stool slid out from under him. But I think we had 1 1/2 successful peeing on the potty episodes today, the half is because I found Winston flushing the potty and saying he went in it, but the only evidence was a puddle on the step stool (different step stool than previously mentioned). We had a busy day of yard work today and by we I mean Dave, mowed and pruned and planted some Azaleas. The yard really is looking nice around here, and we are hoping to build a new deck this summer.

Well we had some wind here today.....but before the big storm Dave took the boys out to fly their kites. They had a blast.

Here is the crown molding we installed yesterday. I painted it today. It was really hard to install! but it looks great we are really happy with it. I still have to paint what we put up in the kitchen.

We are making progress, the kitchen and living room are painted and we are moving stuff in. But the camera is MIA. So pics will follow when that turns up. We finally got internet and cable turned on so we are back in business!

Well I finished the cabinets today, except for the hadles which are painted but David is going to have to put those on since I already messed up two cabinets and have to fill the holes and repaint them.....If anyone tells me that they are thinking of painting their cabines I am saying count me out!! What an undertaking! But I think they look tons better, the whole kitchen seems larger now.

Finally!! I started painting the cabinets on Tuesday. I forgot to take the camera yesterday but, I started painting the doors and hope to hang some of them tonight or tomorrow.

The boys love all the open space to play in, but the echoing is driving me nuts!

A train comes by in the late afternoon and they love to watch it from the window.

First here is a picture of the cat we inherited with this rental house, we call him Jojo and he is only one of about 10 cats that come around since our landlord feeds them on our back porch, anyway Jojo is the only one we like because he stays around most of the day and lets us pet him.

We hav tons of beautiful daffodills blooming right now....they seem to grow wild here, I see them on the side of the road everywhere.

These little purple ones also grow wild as they are sprouting up all over the yard.

I don't know what these trees are called either, but they are all over town blooming with white flowers, it is beautiful!

Bristol has had this bug since last Friday so I am not hopeful that we will be over it anytime soon. Dave is in denial because he wants to go to Indiana this weekend. We'll see......

Bristol was in the kitchen yelling for help because there was a scary monster and he couldn't get through the kitchen, this is what I found...(you need to click on the picture for the full effect of how big it was.)
This prehistoric looking spider/cricket thing........SOO GROSS! Don't think either one of my strapping boys would step on it either! So I located a 6ft. board and smashed it to smithereens, and left the board and bug for Dave to discard of when he got home.

Poor winston's eye is getting worse!

Winston looks like he went 3 rounds with a grizzly bear! Thursday night he fell face first in the dining chair and got a bloody nose and busted hi lip, and last night he fell off my bed and must have hit his eye on the night stand on the way down.......

Well in case noone noticed we haven't been online for 3 weeks because our internet and phone have been down! So we switched companies! Anyway Winston tuned one one the 22nd and we had little party.....

We have been working hard to make El Paso a little less ugly...

We planted some tomatoes and they are blooming so we should have tomatoes soon!

These are my snapdragons, which are Bristols favorites since he found out what they do.

Petunias are an easy way to add color to the desert.

I don't know why this pot didn't do as well as the other one.

And finally we are starting to have roses, I bought these four bushes on clearance...

and it looks like they will make it after all!!

We took Bristol and Winston to see Shrek the third today and they both did really well, it was the first time for both of them at the theatre, Bristol was so excited to see such a big screen, Winston was a little freaked out but wanted to sit in the seat with Bristol, so Bristol held him for a while.
